FAQ
If you're shopping for a website in the UK, almost every quote you'll get is structured around a tiered package — Starter, Pro, Premium, or something similar. The names don't mean anything across agencies. This is what each tier should actually contain, what to compare like-for-like, and how to spot the genuine bargain from the loss leader.
Why agencies sell in packages
Packages exist because most small business websites have the same components — a homepage, a few service pages, a contact form, an about page, hosting and SEO basics. Bundling those into tiers lets agencies quote quickly and makes it easier for customers to compare. The downside is that "Pro" at one agency is "Starter" at another, and the only way to compare honestly is to ignore the labels and look at the deliverables.
Typical one-off website design packages in the UK (2026)
Entry tier — £299 to £799
3 to 5 pages, mobile responsive, basic SEO setup, hosting for 12 months, SSL. You normally supply your own copy and images. Best for: sole traders and brand-new businesses with a fixed budget.
Mid tier — £800 to £2,000
5 to 15 pages, copywriting included, professional photography or stock licensed, contact and booking forms, local SEO, faster hosting and 12 months of support. This is the most popular UK package tier because it covers what most small businesses actually need.
Premium tier — £2,000 to £5,000
15+ pages, custom illustration or photography, integrations (booking systems, CRM, payment), advanced SEO setup, conversion optimisation review. Best for established businesses replacing a tired site.
Bespoke — £5,000+
Ecommerce, multi-location sites, member areas, web apps. Pricing scales with the number of products, integrations and bespoke features.
Typical monthly website packages
Monthly packages bundle the build, hosting, support and ongoing maintenance into a single monthly fee. Typical 2026 UK pricing:
£25 to £40 a month: 3-page site, basic SEO, hosting, SSL, minimal support allowance
£40 to £75 a month: 5–8 page site, copywriting included, content edits, full local SEO foundation, priority support
£75 to £150 a month: 10+ page site, advanced SEO, business email, integrations, dedicated point of contact
£150 and up: Ecommerce, custom integrations, performance monitoring
Side-by-side comparison
The honest comparison most agencies dodge:
Pay monthly wins year one, one-off catches up from year two onwards — assuming nothing breaks, nothing needs editing, and you're comfortable handling hosting and SSL yourself.
Which package suits which type of business
New business, limited cash: Pay monthly. Cashflow protection matters more than year-3 savings.
Established business replacing an old site: One-off if you have a maintenance plan or technical staff. Pay monthly if not.
Seasonal business: Pay monthly — spreads cost evenly across the year.
Tradesperson or solo professional: Pay monthly. Hands-off support is worth the slight premium.
High-traffic site or ecommerce: Bespoke quote either way — packages stop being meaningful above £2,000.

FAQ
What's the difference between a £499 and a £999 website package?
Roughly speaking: page count, depth of copywriting, integrations and how much ongoing support is bundled. The £499 tier is a working professional starter site. The £999 tier is a small business marketing site with most features built in.
Are website design packages a rip-off?
They're only a rip-off if the package is structured to upsell you on basics that should be included — hosting, SSL, support. A well-built package saves you money compared to itemised quotes.
Do website packages include SEO?
"Foundational" or "local" SEO should always be included — meta tags, schema, sitemap, Core Web Vitals. Active monthly SEO campaigns (link building, content) are a separate add-on. If you need that, see our local SEO and advanced SEO packages.
Can I move between packages later?
You should be able to. With us, you can upgrade or downgrade with 30 days notice and you keep your domain and content either way.
